The Tetbury Music Festival 2011
6 October – 9 October

The Festival opens on Thursday with a piano recital by
Paul Lewis playing Schubert. The programme includes Four Impromptus,
Moments Musicaux and Fantasy in C “Wandererfantasie”

On Friday the theme is “orchestral and vocal music for
and about weddings” with Jonathan Cohen and his new ensemble

On Saturday morning we are delighted to be joined by the
Elias String Quartet. The members of the Quartet all live in
England but are originally from France, Scotland and Sweden.
Formed in 1998 at the Royal Northern College of Music they have
performed extensively in the UK, and in France, Germany, Sweden,
Austria, Italy, Australia and the USA, in venues such
as the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, Snape Maltings
Concert Hall, Kettle’s Yard, Bridgewater Hall,
Fairfield Halls, Stockholm Concert Hall, the Auditorium
du Louvre-Paris, and Jordan Hall, Boston, and have
broadcast live on National Radio in the UK, France,
Australia and Sweden.

On Saturday evening Steven Isserlis is joined by
Denes Varjon. Steven and Denes have been at the Festival before –
we are very pleased to have Steven back as Artistic Advisor
for 2011.

On Sunday early evening The Sixteen with Harry Christophers
return to the Tetbury Music Festival with a programme of music by Victoria. As the concert also celebrates the centenary of the Tetbury Church Organ we will be joined by Carleton Etherington who is organist of Tewkesbury Abbey. Educated at Chetham’s School of Music, Manchester and London’s Royal Academy of Music, he has performed at
most of the major venues throughout the UK and further afield in Europe, Australia and America. Carleton has broadcast on BBC radio many times and has several recordings to his credit. He has performed and toured with the CBSO and until recently was accompanist to the CBSO Junior Chorus.

The Festival Art Exhibition will be open from 11am each day during the Festival with works by the 2010 visual artist in residence, Martin Davis, photographer
