The Tetbury Music Festival 2003

From the success of the concerts that we have been giving
in Tetbury, it is clear that there is a healthy appetite
in the area for good music, beautifully performed. We are
fortunate to be within an hour of two splendid sources of
such music. The Cheltenham International Festival of Music in July, and the Bath International Festival and MozartFest in May and late November.

But there is room for more live music of the highest
standard, and we are fortunate to have more than one
building in our own area which provides an excellent venue
for concerts, most notably the 18th-century Tetbury Parish
Church, the beauty of which is matched by its wonderful
acoustics.

Last year we began to discuss the possibility of
establishing a Tetbury Music Festival. We were delighted when we secured the enthusiastic support of the cellist, Steven Isserlis, who promptly agreed to become the Festival’s Artistic Director.

And in a typically generous and neighbourly gesture, His
Royal Highness the Prince of Wales agreed to be the Patron
of the Festival, for which we are tremendously grateful.

Programme 2003

The Tetbury Music Festival will be an annual series of
concerts that will take place over the first weekend in
October. We will gradually increase the number of days and concerts in the future. What will remain the same is our
commitment to the best in both artistic planning and
performance. We want The Tetbury Music Festival to be
recognised nationally as an important contributor to our
musical lives.
